Using this site and our services
These terms apply when you use the San Gabriel Concrete website, ask us for an estimate or hire us for concrete work. By doing any of those things, you agree to these terms, so please read them before you book.
If a written estimate or signed contract for your job says something different from this page, the estimate or contract controls for that job. Everything it doesn't cover falls back to these terms.
What we do
San Gabriel Concrete is a concrete contractor in San Gabriel, CA. We build and repair driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, pool decks, garage floors, retaining walls, footings and slab foundations, and we do stamped and decorative concrete and concrete cutting for homes and properties in San Gabriel and the cities around it. You can see the full list on our home page and learn more about our crew on the About page.
What we'll actually do on your property is what your written estimate or contract describes. Anything on this website is general information, not a promise about a specific job.
Estimates and pricing
We give free on-site estimates, and asking for one doesn't commit you to anything. An estimate is based on what we can see and measure on the day, along with the size, thickness, finish and access you've described.
Some conditions only show up once the old concrete is out and we're digging, such as soft or wet ground under the slab, buried roots, old footings or pipes that weren't on record. If we find something that changes the work or the price, we'll stop, show you and agree on the change with you before we go on.
An estimate stays good for the time written on it. After that, material and labor costs may have moved, and we may need to update it.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We'll give you a start date when you book, but concrete depends on the weather and on the ground being ready, so we may move a pour if rain, strong wind or heat would hurt the finish or the strength of the slab. We'll tell you as soon as we know and set the next workable day.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, call us at (626) 816-3530 as early as you can. If we've already ordered concrete, materials or equipment for your job, or the crew has started work, you're responsible for those costs as your contract describes.
You agree to give our crew safe access to the work area, keep pets and vehicles out of the way and let us know about sprinkler lines, private utilities or anything else buried on the property that we wouldn't find on our own.
Payment
Your estimate or contract lists the price, any deposit and when each payment is due. Final payment is due when the work described is finished, even if the concrete is still curing, which is the waiting period while the slab hardens before it's ready for full use.
If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's paid. California law gives contractors certain rights to secure payment for work done on a property, and nothing on this page gives up those rights.
Cracks, curing and what's normal for concrete
Concrete shrinks as it dries, so small hairline cracks are normal and don't mean the work was done wrong. We cut control joints, which are planned grooves that give the slab a place to crack in a straight line, but they guide cracking rather than prevent it.
Fresh concrete needs time before people walk on it and longer before cars drive on it. We'll tell you how long to wait for your job, and we aren't responsible for damage from using the slab early, from heavy vehicles or equipment it wasn't built for, or from changes to drainage, irrigation or grading that someone else makes after we finish.
Color and texture vary from batch to batch, and new concrete next to old concrete won't match exactly. Stamped and colored finishes can look slightly different from samples or photos.
Warranty and disclaimers
We stand behind our work, and if something isn't right, we want to hear about it. Any written warranty for your job is stated in your contract, and it covers only what it names.
Beyond that written warranty, and to the extent California law allows, we don't make other promises, spoken or implied, about how your concrete will perform. The information on this website is provided as it is, and we don't guarantee it's complete or current for your property.
Limits on our liability
We're licensed and insured, and we're responsible for damage our crew causes through our own work. To the extent California law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost use of a driveway, lost income or problems caused by conditions hidden on the property before we started.
To the extent California law allows, our total liability for any claim about a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job. Nothing here limits rights you have under California law that can't be waived.
If we disagree
If you're unhappy with any part of the job, call us first so we can come look at it with you, because most problems get fixed faster in person than on paper. Both sides agree to try in good faith to settle a dispute that way before going further.
If talking it through doesn't settle it, either side may suggest mediation with a neutral person before filing a claim. Any claim that goes to court will be heard in Los Angeles County, California, including small claims court where it qualifies.
California law applies
These terms and any work we do are governed by the laws of the State of California. If a court finds any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
Changes to these terms
We may update this page from time to time. The version posted when you sign your contract is the one that applies to your job, and later changes won't apply to work already agreed.
If you have a question about these terms, reach us through the Contact page or call (626) 816-3530.
